Mikel Merino has handed Arsenal an injury boost after he was involved in training on the eve of the club’s Champions League semi-final against Paris St Germain.
Makeshift forward Merino’s participation in Tuesday’s first leg at the Emirates had been cast into doubt after he was unavailable for Arsenal’s previous match against Crystal Palace six days ago.
Manager Mikel Arteta said after the 2-2 draw with Palace that he was unsure if Merino would be fit to face the French champions.

However, Merino now looks set to be involved after he took part in a group training session at London Colney.
The Spain international could revert to midfield for the visit of PSG with Thomas Partey suspended for the clash. Leandro Trossard may instead lead Arsenal’s attack with the Belgian scoring four times in his past four league appearances.
Ben White, who like Merino was absent from Arsenal’s squad against Palace, was also involved in training but fellow defender Riccardo Calafiori remains sidelined.
Arteta is due to face the media at 7pm on Monday with Arsenal hosting PSG on Tuesday ahead of next week’s return rubber in Paris.
