AFC Wimbledon suffered a huge blow to their automatic promotion hopes as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Bromley.

A Corey Whitely finish in the second half allowed the Hayes Lane side to record a double over their south London neighbours.

Bromley almost had the perfect start after less than 50 seconds, when Whitely fed Michael Cheek, but his shot was dragged just wide.

Ryan Johnson had to deny Cheek after 25 minutes in the area,  while Owen Goodman denied Ben Goodman just before the break with a fine save.

Brooklyn Ilunga should have marked his first start with a goal after 51 minutes, but he curled his effort from six yards out wide.

Browne saw his 57th-minute effort blocked by Carl Jenkinson, as the hosts looked for an opener.

However, a mix up between Goodman and Joe Lewis allowed Whitely to poke home on 75 minutes.

Josh Kelly fired over with five minutes left, while James Tilley could not keep his late effort on target.

Smith pulled off an excellent injury-time save from Kelly, as Bromley held on for the win.
