Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson only cared about being in the third round after beating League Two Notts County 4-3 in an FA Cup thriller.
Third-tier Posh could easily have pressed the panic button when Cedwyn Scott and skipper Matty Platt put the Magpies ahead after Ricky-Jade Jones’ opener.
But a second from Jones and goals from Joel Randall and Abraham Odoh did the damage before George Abbott’s late stunner was in vain for County.
Ferguson said: “The key is we’re in the next round. You want to be in the draw for the third round and we’ve done that.
“I want to focus on the positives. Some of the football was outstanding.
“I picked my strongest team. We had to believe our quality would get us through.
“I’m just glad to get through. I’ll have to deal with the rest when I get round to it.
“The players have a real confidence because we’ve come from behind a few times. They have a real belief they can score goals. There’s no panic in the way we play.”
County boss Stuart Maynard was pleased with his players despite missing out on reaching the third round for the first time since 2018.
He said: “I thought we performed really well at times.
“It was frustrating we had to make changes just after an hour to manage it because we have a lot of niggles and have to look to Tuesday and we got ruthlessly punished.
“I’m proud of the lads because they kept going to the end. That’s what taken us to where we are in the league and this cup run because the lads give it everything.”
