Darren Moore is only focused on Port Vale after they missed a chance to gain ground in the League Two promotion race after a goalless draw with illness-struck Harrogate.

Vale, who are bidding to earn an immediate return back to League One, could have cut the gap to just two points after everyone else between third and seventh lost.

Moore’s side had their chances, but were thwarted by a number of good saves from James Belshaw as the visitors settled for a point.

“I don’t know what results went on tonight,” said Moore.

“All I know is I debriefed with the boys. It’s a clear indication that I just focus on ourselves. I’ll have a look at the results with the analysts when we look back at the game.

“The main thing for me is we’re disappointed we didn’t get the three points.

“You have to give them some credit. There weren’t going to come here playing free-flowing open football.

“We need to make sure if another team comes to Vale Park with those tactics then we’re better equipped to kill the game off.

“There were lots of elements of that game which were good. But it just fizzled out when we got into Harrogate’s half towards their box.

“I said to the boys in the dressing room when you look back on the game we needed that goal. We had enough opportunities to capitalise on and we didn’t.”

With second-bottom Morecambe beating AFC Wimbledon, Harrogate are now eight points above the relegation zone.

Boss Simon Weaver said: “I’m delighted with the result and the performance was tremendous. We dug in against a very good team that I expect to go up.

“We showed great resilience. We rode the storm and we grew in confidence.

“To dig in in the last 10 minutes like we did gives us enormous pride. We can take a lot from the performance.

“We came here ambitious and wanted at least a point. We didn’t want to use what conspired against us in the last 48 hours as an excuse. Yes we were depleted.

“The last 48 hours has been pretty crazy with the amount of lads dropping out with illness.

“Just this morning we had people dropping out. It obviously changes your plans and it’s difficult.

“We’ve got great depth and it provided an opportunity for players to come in and acquit themselves well.

“We’ve lost another couple tonight so we’ll see if we’ll have a team for Saturday.”
