Dillon De Silva was on target in the first half as Sutton returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 National League victory over relegation-threatened Maidenhead at York Road.

Sutton’s Eduino Vaz sent a long-range effort past the post in the opening exchanges, while home midfielder Nathan Ferguson fired over at the other end.

Midway through the first half, Maidenhead defender Manny Onariase blocked a goal-bound shot to keep the scores level but Sutton’s pressing paid off as Sri Lanka international De Silva put the visitors ahead on the half-hour mark with his first league goal for the club.

Tristan Abrahams thought had equalised for the hosts just after the break but his effort was ruled offside, while Miles Welch-Hayes cleared Lewis Simper’s low effort off the line late on as Sutton attempted to double their lead.
