Eastleigh maintained their 100 per cent start to the season to sit two points clear at the top of the Vanarama National League following a 2-1 victory over Solihull at the Silverlake Stadium.

It took three minutes for the home side to open the scoring, forcing an error which allowed Paul McCallum to put the ball on a plate for Jake Taylor to turn home.

Eastleigh doubled their advantage in the 10th minute when Scott Quigley’s cross picked out McCallum and he nodded in from close range.

The home side could have had a third with 25 minutes to play when Tyrese Shade teed up Quigley but he could only pass it into the grasp of goalkeeper Laurie Walker.

Solihull pulled a goal back in added time through Bradley Stevenson but it was nothing more than a consolation.
