Burton boss Gary Bowyer hailed match-winner Charlie Webster’s composure after his dramatic stoppage-time winner earned the Brewers a 1-0 win at Lincoln.
Webster’s late winner, his second goal in as many games, secured battling Burton a welcome three points in their survival bid.
It is just one defeat in nine for Albion, who are just two points adrift of safety.
“We dug in. We had each other’s backs,” beamed Bowyer.
“We spoke at half-time about having one moment of quality and composure and wow, what a moment that was from Charlie.
“I said on Tuesday night if there’s one person you want it to drop to it’s him…and I’ve just watched it back and the composure is outstanding. It was top, top drawer.
“I’ve not given him anymore responsibility than the others to be perfectly honest with you.
“We push them and we make demands on them and once they cross that white line it’s on them to go and execute.
“Rightly so they will be happy with that one. We’ve asked them to go to the end and they have done. We asked them to empty the tank and they’ve done that. “The manner to bounce back from the disappointment of last weekend and to come to two places which are tough and get two clean sheets and win both games is brilliant.
“It’s ‘wow’ what they’re producing. But we’ve got to keep pushing them now. We’ve got to try and push on again from this.”
The stuttering Imps are sat in mid-table and missed the chance to push themselves closer to the play-off places after a third home game without a win. The Imps saw two goals disallowed.
The first for a foul as debutant Sam Clucas netted with the second offside.
Boss Michael Skubala admitted: “We weren’t good enough. We can’t hide behind anything.
“They are fighting for their lives and we need to be better. We need to play with more intensity.
“In the end it was the basics we’ve not done good enough again, we didn’t move the ball with enough zip.
“The game became really slow and stodgy. We need to drive the intensity and we had none of that.
“We weren’t at the level we want to be. It’s a really disappointing performance all round. We didn’t do well enough out there today.
“Sometimes when you have more time, you take more time. The space was there but we didn’t move it quick enough. That’s been the story against teams who are lower than us. We’ve struggled to play with that aggression and intensity.
“We didn’t look like we were threatening at all. We had some moments, but if the referee’s going to give a foul for the Sam Clucas’ one then he’s got to do that for the whole game.
“They did a job on us, let’s be honest. We need to be better. Our record against the bottom six isn’t good enough.
“We have to keep improving and growing with that. The last thing we want is for this season to peter out.”
