Gateshead ended their six-match losing run with a 2-1 victory over struggling Dagenham in the Vanarama National League.

After a quiet start to the game, debutant Tim Akinola opened the scoring after 19 minutes.

And Gateshead doubled their lead eight minutes before half-time through Ethan Robson.

Josh Rees pulled a goal back for relegation-threatened Dagenham just after the hour mark but Gateshead held on to claim all three points, with home keeper George Shelvey producing an important save late on.
