Gateshead crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Aldershot just a day after learning they will be eligible for promotion from the National League this season.

The match was held up for over half an hour due to a medical emergency involving a supporter in the South Stand, forcing the players to return to the changing rooms in the first half.

It had been all action until the interruption with Jack Roles firing fourth-placed Gateshead ahead with a superb strike from the edge of the area before Josh Barrett equalised soon after.

Strikes by Ryan Jones and Jack Michael Barham then propelled Aldershot ahead in the second half with Gateshead having Ryan Bartley sent off for a high tackle on Tyler Frost.
