Graham Alexander says Bradford must not get distracted as they close in on leaders Walsall.
George Lapslie scored twice on his first start and Burnley loan striker Michael Mellon netted for the second successive game in a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham.
It was second-placed Bradford’s sixth win in seven games and 10th in a row at Valley Parade to set a new club record and move within two points of top spot.
Alexander said: “It’s about what we do. We just have to keep adding to the tally.
“The league will keep fluctuating and we have to keep adding points whether it’s one or three. We just have to maintain that.
“I know I’m going to be boring. I want the supporters to get excited and carried away and have dreams.
“I get it and don’t want to dampen people’s spirits but inside we have to be professional and focus on the next game.
“If we get distracted one game, we’re going to do ourselves a disservice. But I think we’ve got really strong professionals in the changing room that will carry that message forward.”
Lapslie scored the first just after the half hour when he headed home Tayo Adaramola’s cross.
Jamie Walker set him up for a second goal early in the second half before claiming another assist for Mellon to round off the scoring.
Alexander added: “What the players are managing to produce with the run we’ve been on of Saturday and Tuesday games is great. They are in the groove and they don’t want to let it go.
“There were some really strong performances and I’m delighted for George because he’s a really popular lad.”
Cheltenham manager Michael Flynn had no complaints with their first loss in five games.
He said: “We weren’t good enough tonight. They were at it, they are in a really good moment – I think they have just broken a club record of 10 home wins in a row, which is phenomenal.
“They just looked a bit sharper and their game plan worked a lot better than ours, let’s put it down to that. Plus, we gave away silly goals.
“The endeavour was there but I just didn’t think we did enough. We’ve had an off night and they have had a good night, which they’ve had many of here recently. We have been beaten by a team chasing the title.
“We just weren’t good enough, lost too many battles, (took) too many touches on the ball, allowing them to close us down and when you have this crowd behind you and they are in the position they are in, it can be a ferocious place.
“I am not going to have a go at the players. I am sticking with them.”
