Grimsby boosted their top-seven aspirations by coming from behind to extend their unbeaten run to eight games with a 3-1 win at faltering League Two leaders Walsall.
The hosts led after six minutes when Albert Adomah’s through ball was drilled into the bottom corner by Ellis Harrison from 15 yards.
However, Grimsby levelled after 21 minutes with a clever short free-kick as Jayden Luker had space to take a touch and fire into the far corner from the edge of the box.
The Saddlers could have gone back ahead 11 minutes later but Adomah’s attempted lob drifted just wide.
It was Grimsby who led at the break with Danny Rose thumping an unstoppable 44th-minute penalty into the top corner after Taylor Allen tripped Mariners substitute Tyrell Warren.
George McEachran could have added a third after the break but shot weakly at Walsall goalkeeper Tommy Simkin.
At the other end, a backpedalling Jordan Wright kept out Harrison’s looping header but Luker sealed the points after 66 minutes, racing clear from Kieran Green’s through ball to slot beneath Simkin.
