Johnnie Jackson praised a “well-earned point” as AFC Wimbledon extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 0-0 draw at Accrington.
Chances were at a premium, with Wimbledon having the best when Aron Sasu’s close-range strike was kept out by the foot of Stanley keeper Billy Crellin in the first half.
Marcus Browne’s header after the interval went just over as Wimbledon continued their promotion push.
Jackson said: “A draw was a fair result, it was a hard-earned point. It was a tough game, Accrington make it hard for you and you have to stand up to the challenge.
“We defended really well, and that’s as a team. Our goalkeeper has hardly had anything to do and we did limit them. We are a hard nut to crack, we are solid defensively.
“We would have just liked to create a little bit more and show a little bit more composure on the ball at times.
“There were not a lot of clear-cut chances although I think we had the better ones but I couldn’t say we did enough to win.
“We just have to look at it as another point on the tally and a clean sheet.
“We are on really good run. We came here thinking we could win, and wanting to win, but on days like today it’s a good point.
“I have never been here and got a point so I know how tough it can be. It shows what kind of side we are and where we are that we are disappointed with a draw but it is another point and it puts us in a great position.”
Accrington, who sit 20th, kept a third clean sheet in four games as they look to put more distance between themselves and the bottom two.
Assistant manager Ged Brannan said: “I thought it was a fantastic point, they are very strong, very physical and we dealt with it well.
“Our back three were brilliant and they are a top team who will be in and around the promotion places at the end of the season.
“It’s if you can’t win the game, don’t get beat, take what you can, so it’s a great point for us.
“We have worked on being organised all week and we knew what we would get today and we have stood up and dealt with it all over the park.
“They are fifth from the top and we are fifth from the bottom but there was nothing in the game – it’s a tight league, any team could have won.
“Our lads are disappointed to come away with just a point as they worked hard for each other. It shows we are going in the right direction.”
