Jude Arthurs’ second-half goal enabled Bromley to beat Gillingham 2-1 and record their fourth win of the Sky Bet League Two season.
The hosts led nine minutes into the second half through Cameron Congreve’s goal, only for Robbie McKenzie to level the scores soon after.
Michael Cheek served early notice of Bromley’s intentions when his angled drive was turned behind by goalkeeper Jake Turner.
Gillingham grew into the game and but for a last-ditch challenge by Omar Sowunmi, Elliott Nevitt would have shot the visitors into the lead.
Carl Jenkinson had the best chance of the opening half for Bromley, running on to Corey Whitely’s pass before being denied by a point-blank save from Turner.
Gillingham came out of the traps quickly in the second half and Grant Smith had to be alert to tip Jayden Clarke’s acrobatic effort over the bar.
However, the game sprung into life with two goals inside 60 seconds.
Swansea loanee Congreve scored his first goal for Bromley when he converted a loose ball inside the penalty area.
However, McKenzie soon equalised, drilling a low effort beyond Smith after Bromley failed to clear their lines.
Arthurs had the final word when he smashed home a half-volley through a crowded penalty area 20 minutes from time.
