Karl Robinson lauded Salford’s landmark 100th EFL victory as his side beat struggling Tranmere 2-0.

After a scrappy first half, the hosts were much improved after the interval and claimed a deserved win through Hakeeb Adelakun’s brace, their first victory in five League Two games.

“We came here not just to beat Tranmere 1-0 or 2-0, we came to win as successfully as we possibly could,” Robinson said.

“The pitch is horrific and it is the same for both teams but we have got some wonderfully technical players. When you look at the quality players like Hakeeb Adelakun and Tyrese Fornah possess, of course they get frustrated.

“In the Fleetwood, the Newport and the Bromley games, we deserved way more points than what we actually accumulated.

“It is the club’s 100th win in the football league which is a tremendous testament to the football club, and it’s the highest points tally we have had in the football league history at this time in the season.

“I think they are some wonderful milestones, and I don’t think that any other team has had to deal with the amount of injuries we’ve had to our starting XI. So I am incredibly proud of our players.”

Tranmere have now lost 10 matches in a row on the road, and boss Nigel Adkins was disappointed with his side’s lack of cutting-edge.

He said: “I am hurting as we have lost the game. There was not much in it when you break it all down, we have had some good opportunities and the goalkeeper has made some good saves for them.

“Nil-nil at the start of the second half, Harvey Saunders goes through on the halfway line and has hit it at the goalkeeper’s arm (outside the box) and then they go down the other side of the box and the ricochet falls for them.

“We worked hard, (midfielder Jake) Garrett was really good and had a couple of great chances in the first half. He’s tenacious and will be a good player for Tranmere Rovers.

“We’ve lost the game and it hurts as I know we have a got a group of lads that are trying and working hard and it’s just not going our way at the moment.

“Although it’s the result, with the performance you can see that the players are trying.”
