Maidenhead remain five points from safety in the National League despite a 2-0 victory at play-off chasing Halifax.

Sam Barratt and Shawn McCoulsky scored late on to give United a second successive triumph, but Boston’s win over Altrincham meant they failed to make up any ground.

Florent Hoti fired over for Halifax while home goalkeeper Toby Savin tipped Joshua Johnson’s 20-yard effort wide.

Barratt made the all-important breakthrough four minutes from time, slamming home into the bottom corner, before McCoulsky made sure of the points.
