Reading boss Noel Hunt was delighted with another clean sheet after his side drew 0-0 at play-off chasing rivals Huddersfield in League One.

After a disappointing first-half performance at the John Smith’s Stadium, the Royals improved after the break despite not scoring.

And Hunt was happy with a second consecutive shut-out which backed up the 1-0 win against Bolton.

Hunt said: “Another clean sheet is a big plus for me.

“It’s not easy to secure back-to-back clean sheets, particularly against two really good teams in Bolton and Huddersfield.

“We were better in the second half than the first, when we looked a bit more dangerous in the final third.

“We definitely created the better chances.

“Coming to a big place like Huddersfield can be a bit daunting for some of the younger players, but all the lads really stepped up in that second half.

“We could probably have worked their keeper a bit more, but we’ve defended and attacked better, and all the lads have worked so hard for one another.

“It’s on to Tuesday night now and Shrewsbury at home, and that’s another difficult test.

“There’s no easy games in this division, so we have to get the mindset and attitudes right within the group and hopefully we’ll do OK.”

The Terriers enjoyed the better of the opening 45 minutes, with Callum Marshall going closest when his firm strike was well saved by Joel Pereira.

Reading improved after the restart and Mamadi Camara volleyed inches wide.

At the other end, Terriers substitute Freddie Ladapo almost bagged a late winner.

Huddersfield have won just one of their last eight games, but they at least halted a worrying run of three straight defeats and remain in fifth place in the table.

Town boss Michael Duff said: “Our performance was pretty good.

“We created chances, but it seemed like we just lacked that bit of real quality you need in and around their six-yard box.

“Don’t forget, those final moments of a move are the most important if you’re going to score goals.

“Reading came to frustrate us, but it’s up to us to deal with that.

“The endeavour from all my players was good, and we got into some really good areas.

“There’s completely different emotions from what we felt last week, but it’s frustrating that we haven’t won nonetheless.

“We know it’s in there, but considering those good positions we were getting into, we didn’t create nearly enough clear-cut chances.

“On top of that the injuries are continuing to hurt us – we had to make a number of changes once again today.

“But that’s the same as always at the moment it seems, we just have to crack on and focus on the next game now.”
