Owen Oseni’s sixth goal of the season handed high-flying Gateshead a 1-0 stoppage-time victory over Solihull in the National League.

Luke Hannant almost got the hosts off to the perfect start when he forced a first-minute save from Laurie Walker, but opposite number Tiernan Brooks had to be equally resilient at the other end to keep out Conor Wilkinson’s effort seconds later.

Heed defender Robbie Tinkler sent a miscued back-pass just wide of his own goal and Brooks had to claw away an Alex Whitmore header as the visitors pushed for the opening goal, but the sides were still level at the break.

Walker denied Ben Worman and Regan Booty in quick succession and Oseni fired just wide with the home side piling on the pressure, and they might have gone ahead with 64 minutes gone only for Tyrelle Newton to shoot over from close range.

The Solihull keeper enjoyed a let-off when he spilled a Worman cross on to a post, but his luck ran out two minutes into injury time when Booty set up Oseni to win it.
