Port Vale remain unbeaten in League Two in 2025 following a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Tranmere at Prenton Park.

A Ronan Curtis strike cancelled out Kristian Dennis’ opener as Darren Moore’s side extended their unbeaten run to nine games, while Rovers are now without a win in 11.

The home side opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Dennis pounced on a defensive error to steer the ball into an empty net from 18 yards.

The lead could have been doubled when Josh Hawkes’ fierce shot was tipped over the bar by Ben Amos in the visitors’ goal.

But just before the half-hour mark the away side were level when Curtis’ goal-bound shot was deflected past Luke McGee in the Rovers goal.

Curtis was denied a second just after the break when McGee got down well at the near post to deny his close-range effort.

At the other end, Rovers came close to taking the lead when Lee O’Connor saw his dipping long-range effort tipped wide by Amos before the ball cannoned off the post from the resulting corner.

Despite being reduced to 10 men when Connor Wood received a second yellow late on, Tranmere hung on for what could be a vital point in their battle to avoid the drop.
