Tamworth stepped up their Vanarama National League play-off bid as a 2-0 home win against 10-man Eastleigh extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.

Tamworth went close to taking a first-half lead when Eastleigh goalkeeper Joe McDonnell foiled Beck-Ray Enoru in a one-on-one and Tom McGlinchey fired his follow-up over the crossbar.

Eastleigh were reduced to 10 men before the interval when Scott Quigley was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after kicking out at Tamworth defender Dan Creaney.

Hadyn Hollis broke the deadlock for Tamworth, forcing the ball home from close range in the 53rd minute following Tom Honks’ long throw-in and McGlinchey added a second seven minutes later after racing on to Creaney’s excellent through ball.
