Solihull Moors boosted their National League survival hopes with a 1-0 win at Southend.

Elliot Thorpe cut in off his wing to brilliantly fire Solihull ahead in the 10th minute, with Noor Husin denied a similarly spectacular equaliser by goalkeeper Laurie Walker.

Nick Hayes saved from Thorpe just before half-time, with Nathan Ralph clearing Marcel Oakley’s follow-up off the line.

Southend’s Tom Hopper went close with a diving header moments after the interval, and Walker later made a superb fingertip save from Harry Taylor with Macauley Bonne heading wide.
