A stunning strike from Reyes Cleary was cancelled out by a fine Tyrese Shade effort as Eastleigh hit back for a 1-1 draw against Hartlepool in the Vanarama National League.

Cleary struck from distance to give Pools a 30th-minute lead at the Silverlake Stadium but Shade responded before the break by lobbing the ball over the defence and then chipping goalkeeper Adam Smith.

Joe Grey missed a good chance to put Hartlepool back ahead and both sides hit the bar in the closing stages as they chased a late winner.

Eastleigh’s Ben Close was the first to hit the woodwork with a powerful drive before a Cleary cross was deflected onto the goal frame at the other end.
