Former Braintree striker Will Davies returned to haunt his former club as Sutton United claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win at the Rare Breed Meat Co. Stadium.
Davies stroked home the only goal of the game in the 47th minute from Josh Coley’s neat cutback and it proved enough for the visitors to end a run of three straight National League losses.
Davies had the best early chances with one effort blocked in the box and a second turned round the post by Braintree keeper Lucas Covolan.
Eduino Vaz went close to a second for Sutton but they held on for a win that extends the home side’s losing streak to three straight games.
